Matthew Mikas
Matthew is an artistically inclined gentleman of diverse skill and accomplishment. His involvement with the fine art world stems from a noted and consistent career as a vinyl record DJ and micro-radio station operator. He has worked with well established curators and artists such as Dave Hickey, and Pedro Reyes, providing sound elements for various museum exhibitions and has performed his own work at such venues as The Kitchen, Scope Art Fair, and the 2005 Gwang Ju Biennale in South Korea. He has also served as a consultant/panelist on electronic media matters for The New York State Council on the Arts. As a visual artist and tradesman, Mr. Mikas, has over 15 years experience as a painter/sculptor producing large scale scenery for notable clientele including The American Museum of Natural History, Busch Gardens Theme Park, Macy's Herald Square, and top-tier event planner, Colin Cowie Lifestyles. Laura Lee Gulledge
The fairer member of 2nd Skin is Laura Lee, who is scenic painter (most notably for Macy's famous holiday windows), muralist, street artist, and glitter technician. She has held solo shows of her drawings at Ad Hoc Gallery and HiChristina! art space in Brooklyn. She has also hosted, produced, and designed sets for various nerdy and erotic events around NYC. She has a Master's degree in Art Education and has taught in both Virginia and Africa. She is currently writing and drawing her first graphic novel called Page by Paige which will be released in Spring 2011 by Amulet Books, a division of Abrams.
